System Overview

ColorGard is manufactured from mill-finished, aircraft grade aluminum. The crossmember comes in 8-foot long sections, in both unpunched ColorGard and pre-punched ColorGard configurations.

ColorGard crossmembers are fastened to S-5! regular seam clamps, and can also be mounted on most S-5! brackets. Depending on your application, the ColorGard crossmember may be directly attached (pre-punched ColorGard) or attached using the VersaClip adapter (unpunched ColorGard).

Please note: S-5! mini clamps should never be used with ColorGard snow retention systems.

Selecting the correct S-5! clamps or brackets is one of the most important parts of the process. The right clamp or bracket will provide a high strength attachment to your metal roof. Also critical to correct performance of a snow retention system is using the correct number of attachment points.

Pre-Punched ColorGard Crossmember

The pre-punched crossmember features slotted holes every 4″ (10.2cm), allowing direct attachment to S-5! clamps when the clamp spacing is divisible by 4″, for example 12″, 16″, 20″ and 24″ roof panel widths.

Pre-Punched ColorGard comes in 8’0″ lengths and each section includes one splice for easy connection to adjacent crossmembers if needed.

Each 7’8″ Section measures 1.5″W x 2.15″H x 92″ L and weights about 4lbs

Un-Punched ColorGard Crossmember

The un-punched crossmember is used with VersaClip adapters when mounting to S-5! clamps or brackets allowing use with any width roof panel or configuration.

Un-punched ColorGard comes in 7’8″ lengths and each section includes one splice for easy connection to adjacent crossmembers if needed.

Each 7’8″ Section measures 1.5″W x 2.15″H x 92″ L and weights about 4lbs

Versa-Clip Adapter

The VersaClip adapter is used primarily with un-punched ColorGard crossmembers and simply slides onto the back portion of the crossmember, allowing unlimited horizontal adjustment.

The VersaClip can be used with any S-5! seam clamp as well as with CorruBracket.

Versaclip is also handy when installing ColorGard askew, for example along tapered gables or in certain valley conditions and can be used with pre-punched ColorGard if needed.

SnoClip II & SnoClip III

The Snoclip (SnoClip II pictured) is installed on the ColorGard crossmember between panel ribs to aid in prevention of the migration of snow and ice under the crossmember.

SnoClip II fits roof panels with a vertical rib measuring between 1″ and 1-3/4″.

Snoclip III fits roof panels fits roof panels with a vertical rib measuring between 1-3/4″ and 3″.

Snoclips must be installed prior to mounting the crossmember to the S-5! clamps or brackets by simply sliding onto the rear of the crossmember.

SnoClips are required on all ColorGard systems with roof panel seam heights of 2″ or greater.

S-5! Seam Clamps

The ColorGard snow retention system was designed to take advantage of the superior strength and holding power of the regular S-5! seam clamp.

No ColorGard system is complete without the correct seam clamp for your application.
